Yuba City, California, is located 45 miles north of the state capitol, Sacramento, at the crossroads of Highway 99 and Highway 20, in the central part of the Sacramento Valley. Yuba City is the county seat for Sutter County.
Sutter County is bounded on the east by the Feather River and on the west by the Sacramento River. The most striking physical feature of Sutter County is the Sutter Buttes, known as “The World’s Smallest Mountain Range.”
Yuba City has become the center of shopping and business for Sutter and Yuba Counties as well as southern Butte County and Colusa County. Yuba City is the namesake for the Yuba City Metropolitan Statistical Area as designated by the U.S. Census Bureau, which means that Yuba City is the regional center of commerce for a population of 167,948 residents. The economy of the area is primarily agriculture, food processing, lumber & wood products, and government which includes Beale Air Force Base. In recent years, the region has also experienced growth in light manufacturing.
Yuba City residents enjoy a wide variety of recreational and cultural activities. The community is strategically located just a few hours drive west to the Pacific Ocean and east to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Sacramento is less than an hour away, and the San Francisco Bay area is less than 3 hours away. There are many lakes and rivers nearby.
Even with the growth Yuba City has seen it has much of the ‘small town’ feeling it has always had, and that makes it a great place to live!
